Town Council needs to rethink, regroup, and revote the IDEM appeal

Dear Editor,
My grandfather, Ellesworth Crick was a police officer. At one time during his career he used to walk, I believe they called it a ‘beat.’ As a young girl he taught me a lot about body language and how to spot a perp.
I am not a well-educated person, I’m slow when it comes to certain things. But I feel I have instinct and common sense. And I am good at catching a person when they are not being completely honest.

Auburn Road residents receiving unfair Sewer Charges

Dear Editor,
We on Auburn Road, and the people of surrounding areas, are being forced into the new Greater Cedar Creek sewer project, even though we have protested at that few meeting have been held over the past year.
We have no say in the matter.
The monthly cost of $114 has been amortized over 355 homes to pay for the required loan over 20 years. This amounts to $1,368 per year and $27,360 for each home over the 20 years, providing City Utilities $9,712,800 for the life of the loan.
The article of 12-5-2012 by Deputy Director of Engineering for the Fort Wayne City Utilities identified the sewer project at $7.2 million in 357 homes.

What's the story on Dunn Mill?

Dear Editor,
Last year my granddaughter was planning on living with us for awhile to get her life back in order. Being a good grandparent, my wife and I complied.
One of the first things we thought about was how far it was going to be for her to go to school? Having daily bus service would make everyday trips to school not a problem. After school activities might be another thing. In the process of checking mileage to Carroll Middle School, I came across something interesting.

A Lesson in Civics and Life

Dear Editor,
There are times in life in which we all feel we just can’t catch a break.  The cards are stacked against us. We can’t beat the system. We can’t fight city hall.  We feel powerless in the face of unfairness and injustice.
We want to give up.
And then something reminds us that we are blessed to live in the greatest country the world has ever known, where anything is still possible.
