FORT WAYNE - With a pat on the shoulder, Carroll senior Amy Poynter told senior teammate Kelsey Ronan that she had her back.
Ronan, having fouled out with 7:39 to go in Wednesday's first round Sectional game against Columbia City, could only watch as Poynter put her team on her back , scoring 10 of her game high 25 points in the fourth quarter to lead Carroll to a come-from-behind 65-57 win at Snider High School.
The Lady Chargers (10-11) advanced to the Sectional semifinals to play Snider (18-3), a 62-35 winner over East Noble (13-8) in Wednesday's final first round game.

FORT WAYNE - A week ago, after winning a third straight Sectional, Carroll Head Wrestling Coach Scott Raypole yearned for the old State Tournament format and a chance to compete in the Team State Tournament.
Fast forward a week, following a dominant performance by his team that earned Carroll their fifth Regional Championship in school history and the first since 1996, and Coach Raypole has softened his stance, slightly.
"It's hard to complain about the format when you win," he admitted. "We would have liked to have a chance at that Team State. But, I am happy, today. Regional Champions sounds pretty good."

FORT WAYNE - Last season, Spencer Malcolm left the Carroll Wrestling Regional in an ambulance.
On Saturday, the Carroll senior left as champion.
Three-hundred sixty-four days after falling on his head 16 seconds into his third place match against Cody Bays of Whitko, Malcolm cruised through the 160-pound bracket to win his first Regional Championship, pinning Columbia City senior Alan Trabert.
At 39-2, Malcolm will enter the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum this Saturday as one of four number one seeds in his bracket, a complete 180 from last season as he watched the Semi-State tournament from a skybox.
