C3 Sports registering for cheerleading, older kids' basketball

FORT WAYNE – It may be cold outside but things are getting ready to heat up at Hickory Center Elementary School as C3 Sports prepares to kick off its basketball season for its older players.
Registration is now underway for fourth through eighth grade boys and fifth through eighth grade girls who want to play basketball this season, which begins in January.
The sports ministry of Crossbridge Community Church is also registering 4-year-olds through fourth-graders for cheerleading.

Carroll grad Walcutt named CL Offensive Player of the Year

FORT WAYNE - University of Saint Francis junior Boys Soccer Player Jason Walcutt (Carroll 2011) was named the Crossroads League Offensive Player of the Year for the 2013 season.
Walcutt is the first ever USF player to earn this award.
In the NAIA, Walcutt ranked in the top 10 in game winning goals (6-third place), goals (18-sixth place), points (39-10th place).
Walcutt's six game-winning goals ranks third in the NAIA.

13U Huntertown Baseball Tryouts set

HUNTERTOWN - Interested ball players who will be playing in the 13U division next summer are invited to tryout for the Huntertown Lions team on Sunday, August 11th from 5:00-6:15 p.m. at the Huntertown Ball Park.

Huntertown Sparx Softball hosting tryouts

HUNTERTOWN - The Huntertown Sparx Travel Softball Organization will be holding tryouts for any girl who attends a Northwest Allen County School and is between the ages of 9-14 but not enrolled to be a freshman in high school.
Tryouts will be for 10U, 12U and 14U teams and will be conducted on Sunday, August 18 at the softball field at Carroll High School. Tryout times will be approximately one hour in length beginning with 10U tryouts at 1 p.m., 12U tryouts at 2 p.m., and 14U tryouts beginning at 3 p.m.

Wallen Wardogs 12U hosting tryout

FORT WAYNE - An open tryout for the Wallen Wardogs 12U Baseball team will be held on Sunday, August 4, at 4:00 p.m. on Diamond #2 at the Wallen complex.  
The team will consist of 10 players and players will not be playing league house ball due to time constraints for this travel ball commitment.  The team will play a 60-game schedule including 6-7 tournaments.
